PRESIDENT’S
MESSAGE November 1, 2010 Dear Fellow Big Ten Club Members, While hard to believe, Thanksgiving is now less than three weeks away and the Big Ten football schedule is about to enter into the final stretch. And with four teams (as of this writing) now tied for first place, what a stretch it promises to be! At this point, it's anyone's guess who will win the Big Ten and hopefully represent the conference in the Rose Bowl game on January 1. What we do know, however, is that the club will once again be able to offer its members the opportunity to purchase tickets to the game. The ticket application will be mailed to you later this month and I strongly encourage you to adhere to the application deadline, tentatively set for Wednesday, December 8. As we do every year, the deadline will be strictly enforced and no exceptions will be made for orders received after the deadline. As always, the club calendar lists a number of outstanding events coming up over the course of the next month - an LA Kings game on Saturday, December 4, the annual BTC Holiday Party on Sunday, December 5 and the 'not to be missed' Queen's Luncheon on Friday, December 17. If you've never been to this wonderful traditional event held at the exclusive Valley Hunt Club in Pasadena (where the Rose Parade was first planned over 100 years ago) why not make this year the one when you finally make it - I think you'll be glad that you did. Finally, I'd like to encourage those of you who might be able to attend (i.e., our retired members and those living or working near Pasadena) to attend the Pasadena Quarterbacks Luncheon on Friday, November 19 at the Brookside Golf Course Clubhouse, next to the Rose Bowl. John Sciarra, former UCLA quarterback and MVP of the 1976 Rose Bowl game is the guest speaker. I attended the luncheon on September 24 that featured Sam Cunningham from USC and received a wonderful welcome from the club. They'd very much like to build a relationship with us and, given our many common interests, I'm hoping that we can do that. I plan to attend the luncheon and would be delighted to have you join me - and hopefully others - so that we might have our own BTC table. I encourage you to contact me or any other Board member with any thoughts or ideas you might have on how we can best serve our members. I can be reached at 909.621.8557 (work), 626.334.5676 (home) or wildcats76@verizon.net. Go Big Ten! ![]() The Pasadena Quarterbacks (www.pasadenaquarterbacks.org) is a 66 year old organization dedicated to the support of community football that has, through its efforts, donated over $250,000 to a variety of schools and organizations. The club is open to one and all and the only requirement to join is a dedication to the game of football and its place in our community. Each fall, the club sponsors a weekly luncheon series at the Brookside Golf Course in the shadows of the Rose Bowl
that features a variety of outstanding coaches and speakers. Just starting this
year, we'd like to promote the Pasadena Quarterbacks luncheons to our members
and try and gather a table full of Big Ten Club members on
November 19th, when John Sciarra will speak (UCLA Rose Bowl MVP and Rose
Bowl Hall of Famer). 4th Annual Big Ten Club Pub Crawl Good Big Ten Times Celebrate the end of

website and asking for a volunteer who can add content regularly and keep it
updated. This is a very important part of our updated Communication plan,
and help here would be very useful and greatly appreciated. The
ideal person would have web design experience, a little graphic art
knowledge and 3-4 hours a month available to help the Club. Please

Using software processes of his own design, Salavon works at the intersection of art, information technology, and daily life. His distinctive video installations and photographic prints have been exhibited and collected by museums around the world, including the Whitney Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
