Lights Camera Cure The Big Ten Club of Southern California is excited to be a Community Sponsor of Lights Camera Cure – The Hollywood Dance Marathon, a high-energy charity benefit to help the fight against pediatric cancer. The event features Los Angeles alumni from Big Ten schools and others who sign up to dance for 6 hours and raise money from family and friends, similar to the cancer walks, but more fun, with non-stop entertainment (bands, musical performers, DJ’s, dance groups), celebrities & VIP’s on the Red Carpet, a silent auction and more. It’s SUNDAY FUNDAY – for a cause, March 23, 2-8PM. The Big Ten Club invites its members and friends to participate in one of several ways to help kids with cancer: 1. Sign up as an official Dancer – No dance skills required, just a desire to help fight pediatric cancer. Dancers are the heart of this fun-filled event and have a unique role, with special access, pictures on the red carpet, and the exclusive Dancer t-shirt. A $30 registration fee goes toward the minimum fundraising goal of $300, which is easy to achieve with your own Dancer page on our website where family and friends can donate to you online. Start a team for your school when you sign up and get your fellow alumni to join you. 2. Purchase a ticket – Don’t want to commit to dancing for 6 hours? You can support the Dancers and the cause by purchasing a ticket and coming out to enjoy the show. General admission and VIP tickets available, with discounts to Big Ten Club Members. See below for details. 3. Volunteer – We are looking for a few good volunteers to help out the day of the event, with check-in, silent auction, VIP area, Dancer support. Go to the website at www.LightsCameraCure.com to sign up to Dance (much more FUN) or purchase Tickets. HAC members get a $10 discount on General Admission Tickets (regular $25 – use code BTCGA) and $25 discount on VIP tickets (regular $125, including private seating area and complimentary food and drinks, use code BTCVIP). For info on being a volunteer or for general questions, email info@LightsCameraCure.com. The Hollywood Dance Marathon raises money and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer, the #1 disease related cause of death for children in the U.S. Proceeds benefit Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital. The third annual Hollywood Dance Marathon will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the historic Avalon Theater in the heart of Hollywood. In our first two years, Lights Camera Cure has donated over $100,000. The event is produced by Lights Camera Cure, a 501(c)(3) organization, and the Penn State Los Angeles Alumni.
FTK - For The Kids! LA Food Bank Community Service Saturday, April 12 8:45 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Los Angeles Regional Food Bank 1734 East 41st St. Los Angeles, CA We have fun. We do good. We'd love you to volunteer with us Saturday morning, April 12th, for our Club's annual community service project at the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank. Please RSVP by 4/2. Our goal is to have 50 Big Ten friends to volunteer. The LA Regional Food Bank is a non-profit organization that solicits, stores and distributes donated food and grocery projects to charitable agencies throughout the Greater Los Angeles area. As we've done in past years, we'll sort, clean and repackage donated items for a morning under the direction of the Food Bank staff and then, if there's interest, we'll head off to lunch at a local restaurant. This is always a rewarding event to participate in, it's free, and you will receive good karma for another year. Please note: the minimum age to volunteer is 14.
