BTC Night at the Hollywood Bowl Recap

It was another fantastic night at the Hollywood Bowl for the Big Ten Club with good weather, good food and good friends.  It was great to share the evening with the Nebraska Alumni Association who stayed true to their reputation and showed up in force.  The entertainment was excellent with classic television stars singing some of the best TV songs that we have come to know and love.  Some of the highlights included Florence Henderson singing The Brady Bunch theme as well as Dick Van Dyke’s hip hop rendition of “A Spoonful of Sugar”.  The Bowl nights have become a shining example of the kinds of events our club can accomplish.

Big thanks to Len Roth and the Nebraska Club for organizing and supporting this outing!

Big Ten Beach Party Recap

Big Ten Club Website – Help Wanted

Our Webmaster Steven Green will be President next year, and he'll have plenty to do for the Club.  We are thinking of redoing the website and asking for a volunteer who can add content regularly and keep it updated.  This is a very important part of our updated Communication plan, and help here would be very useful and greatly appreciated.  The ideal person would have web design experience, a little graphic art knowledge and 3-4 hours a month available to help the Club.  Please contact Alan Freeman, Communications Committee Chair at or cell (714) 390-5190 if you would like to help in this important position.

Coming on August 21st, we've got a great summer day planned for the whole family!

First, join the UM Club of LA at Camrose Park for a fun filled Maize and Blue Picnic!  We've got a great spot in the Park reserved just for Wolverines, with food and fun all ready to go!  Fried chicken, sandwiches, potato salad, watermelon and more will all be there!  Old fashioned sack races, a pie eating contest, basketball toss and other games for all ages should make for an entertaining afternoon.  Parents can relax and admire from under the trees and the picnic tables surrounding our area.  The Club will provide the food and the fun, but bring your own drinks!  Bring a basket of soda, some beer, and a bottle of wine!

At 7:15 we will walk the short 100 yards next door to the Hollywood Bowl to continue the evening with some great music.  In celebration of the 20th anniversary of our very own Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, John Mauceri returns to recreate the magic of Walt Disney’s Fantasia by directing selections from the classic film with clips on the Bowl’s big screen.  You’ll see your favorites, plus a glimpse into the brilliant artwork and unfinished segments of this Disney masterpiece.  The evening ends with fireworks that complement the spectacular beauty of this cinematic triumph.  Bring your drinks along and enjoy the evening!

We've got a large block of seats reserved at the front of section M2 in the Bowl, so all of the Maize and Blue can sit together.  If you already have Bowl tickets, we've also got a picnic-only option so you don't miss out.  This should be a fun-filled day that the whole family can enjoy!  Don't miss it!
