BIG TEN CLUB
UPCOMING CLUB EVENTS April 21st, 8:45am – 12pm LA Regional Foodbank 1734 East 41st Street Vernon, CA Sign up by April 18th at our eventbrite page. We have fun. We do good. We'd love you to volunteer with us Saturday morning, April 21st, for our Club's annual community service project at the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank. Please RSVP by 4/18. Our annual service project this year will be bigger and better than ever as it will be co-sponsored by the Michigan State, Northwestern and Wisconsin alumni clubs. So come on out and bring your friends, whether or not they have a Big Ten connection. All are welcome. As we’ve done in past years, we’ll help to sort, clean and repackage donated food items for distribution to other charitable agencies that serve needy clients throughout the Greater Los Angeles area. Then, when we’re done around 12 Noon, as is our custom, we’ll head out to an optional, no host luncheon at a Mexican restaurant that’s close-by. The luncheon is always lots of fun and a great way to continue the conversations you’ll have started that morning with your fellow volunteers. If interested in lunch (no obligation), please indicate your plans on the registration form. This had turned into a wonderful tradition for the club – just ask anyone who’s volunteered in the past – and we look forward to having you join us. It makes for a rewarding morning, it’s free and you’ll receive good karma for another year. And if you might like to support the good work of the Foodbank with a financial gift, you can do so by making an online donation at http://www.lafoodbank.org/. Still not sure you want to join us? Then think about these cool reasons:
Please note: the minimum age to volunteer is 14, no exceptions. Questions? Jim Jacobs (NU) at wildcats76@verizon.net or call him at 626.334.5676 (home). Sign up by April 18th at our eventbrite page. Over 60 people attended the inaugural meeting and we're hoping to break that mark at this meeting. If you haven't yet heard about us, Michigan Professionals is a U of M alumni group specifically focused on no-frills business networking. Breakfast will be served. Please plan on arriving at 6:45 a.m. as there was a huge backup in the lobby at the last meeting. Coaches' Luncheon Special for Members: If you are a PAID MEMBER of the Professional Networking Group and will be in attendance at the April and May breakfast you will have the opportunity at those meetings to buy general admission priced tickets for Coaches' Luncheon and the PRO-Network Group will upgrade you to be seated with them at their reserved VIP table. Due to an unexpected scheduling issue on the part of the Old Town Cooking School, we had to reschedule our party to April 28. Since the error was theirs, they have provided way for us to offer the same price to members and non-members. Join us as we gather in a very special space at Catchlight Studios to learn to cook! The Old Town Cooking School will provide us with a hands-on experience to help us master the art of home cooking. Last year, we held our first cooking event at their location in Pasadena and had such a great time that we've decided to do it again. This time, the location is conveniently located at Catchlight Studios on La Brea. We will prepare and eat a five-course Italian meal (plus appetizers and wine) at this private party held especially for Michigan alums. Space for this event is very limited.
