For those of you who get our monthly newsletter, you know that I write something at the beginning of each one. It is my way of staying in touch with all of you and reaching out.
The last thing I was expecting to do was this.
It is with much sadness and deep regret that I must tell you we lost one of our past presidents. Dave Schucker passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on October 15th.
Dave was such a lovely, kind and generous man, and I am truly honored to have known him. I know all of you feel the same who knew him, and like me will have trouble processing all of this. He opened his heart and his home to the club, and the thought of a Rose Bowl ticket distribution day anywhere else seems wrong.
Dave served as president in 2006 and would always make us smile as he would regale us with details about Purdue… many, many details. He loved his school, he loved the Big Ten Club and he obviously loved his wonderful family.
Our thoughts go out to his wife Margaret and their four children, Jane, Nancy, Greta and David.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to:The Purdue Foundation in memory of Dave Schucker
The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 22, 10am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in San Pedro with a reception to follow. Click for map, http://goo.gl/maps/2XHdy.
Sincerely and sorrowfully,
Over 50 Big Ten Members and friends enjoyed July 3rd's concert at the Hollywood Bowl! Here is a photo of the Bowl honoring the Armed Forces including our own Len Roth, MSU. Plus a link to video of the fireworks display to music, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHiiaZpmzBM. Go America!
Fred’s memorial service will be on Thursday, May 24 at 4:00 p.m. at San Marino Community Church, 1750 Virginia Road, San Marino, CA 91108. If you are interested in attending or have any questions, please contact Jim Jacobs at 626-334-5676 or email@example.com.
Please join us in offering our best wishes to the Soldwedel family during this difficult time.
