What: Big Ten Club Community Service Project: LA Regional Food Bank Where: Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, 1734 East 41st Street, Los Angeles, CA 90058 www.lafoodbank.org When: Saturday April 21st, 8:45am – 12 Noon Why: Our annual service project this year will be bigger and better than ever as it will be co-sponsored by the Michigan State, Northwestern and Wisconsin alumni clubs. So come on out and bring your friends, whether or not they have a Big Ten connection. All are welcome. As we’ve done in past years, we’ll help to sort, clean and repackage donated food items for distribution to other charitable agencies that serve needy clients throughout the Greater Los Angeles area. Then, when we’re done around 12 Noon, as is our custom, we’ll head out to an optional, no host luncheon at a Mexican restaurant that’s close-by. The luncheon is always lots of fun and a great way to continue the conversations you’ll have started that morning with your fellow volunteers. If interested in lunch (no obligation), please indicate your plans on the registration form. This had turned into a wonderful tradition for the club – just ask anyone who’s volunteered in the past – and we look forward to having you join us. It makes for a rewarding morning, it’s free and you’ll receive good karma for another year. And if you might like to support the good work of the Foodbank with a financial gift, you can do so by making an online donation at http://www.lafoodbank.org/ Please note: the minimum age to volunteer is 14, no exceptions. Still not sure you want to join us? Then think about these cool reasons: · Make a positive difference for our Los Angeles community. · It’s not horrible, far from it, some even claim it’s fun (and it is!). · Meet other good looking and smart Big Ten alumni · Advance the (very) good name of the Big Ten Club of Southern California. How: To Volunteer, please RSVP by April 18. Questions? Contact Jim Jacobs, Big Ten Club President (NU) at wildcats76@verizon.net or call him at 626.334.5676 (home). |
